A friend of mine is a huge BSB fan, and she loved the song and brought it to me and said ‘it’s a really good song, I think you could do a really good Country version of it.’ So, at that point, I wasn’t really looking into making a new album. I just put it on the back burner, and, you know, until I met my producers and brought it to them when I started working on stuff. I said ‘what do you guys think of this?’ And they loved it as much as I did.”

1/17/13 - Amy Rose: The Call Me Adam Interview

Amy Rose was recently interviewed by Adam Rothenberg for his “Call Me Adam” website. Here’a partial excerpt:

Call Me Adam: You are getting ready to release your third album, which features your new single “I Just Want To Know You,” originally recorded by The Backstreet Boys. What excites you about this upcoming release? How did you come to record “I Just Want To Know You”? What do you identify with most about the song?

AMY ROSE: I get very excited at the opportunity to show that all songs can be “country-fied”…”I Just Want You To Know” was a great pop song and I wanted to show people that it could be a great country song as well… :)

As much as I would love to take credit on picking “I Just Want You To Know” to cover, the truth is I had nothing to do with this…A very good friend of mine Jessica is a huge BSB fan and had brought this song to me a few years back and said Amy I think this would make a killer country song…I listened to the song and fell in love with it!!! When I started to work with my producers on this album, I showed them this song and they loved it too!!!

Your third album was produced in Nashville, how did it feel to record in Nashville?

Working on my third album has been an extreamly exciting time for me… I have always wanted to go to Nashville, TN the heart of country music to cut an album, so I ecstatically thrilled when I got the opportunity to do so… With this project it was a 50/50 split, meaning all instrumental tracks were done in Nashville, TN at Sony Tree Studio and the vocal tracks were done in Vaughan, ON at Richcroft Studio…”

11/16/12 - Press Release from KHXI FM, Cowlington, OK

Jimmy Parker and "Thought I'd Be Home By Now" has easily shown why he is king with a decisive hold on the most requested song on KHXI-FM. This multi-talented artist has shown that his passion for his music and the endearing story lines pull the listener in and tears at the heart. His brand of music can only be described as "pure and genuine country".

Once again our listeners have shown that the Independent artists is a force to be recognized, as the likes of Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and other national artists have fallen to the wayside and didn't even make it to the top 15 artists. This week was indeed a week of reckoning as Amy Rose and "Redneck Reunion" came in second. TJ Maddux and "Homegrown Country Girl" is third, Lynn Hooker's "Good ole' Boys" is fourth, Carl Grimes "Just a Plain Piece of Cloth" is fifth, Doug Briney is 6th, Angie Rosener is 7th, Mike Archer is 8th, Mike Lynn is 9th and a real surprise, John Conlee with his classic song "They Also Serve" came in at number 10.

The Independent artist has shown, time and time again, that they are as good as, but oft times are better than, the likes of the national acts that dominate other radio stations. KHXI-FM is and will always play what our listeners want and not what some big shot sitting at a desk in LA or New York tells us what our listeners need to hear. We listen to what you want to hear, and you have spoken. You, our loyal listener have spoken and we listened. The Independent artist is here to stay. We want to thank all of the artists for giving the entire world this great music.

Rising country singer to play Elmira’s Central Tavern
Tuesday, November, 13, 2012

CHUCK KUEPFER, Staff Reporter

Amy Rose has released a pair of singles for an upcoming album due out in 2013, both of which have been well received. The first single Party Like a Redneck is on constant rotation on Country Music Television, and has received close to 100,000 hits on YouTube. It has also been added to more than 500 radio stations worldwide.

A second single I Just Want You to Know is just starting to climb the charts.

The recent success comes after Rose put her career on the back burner to raise a family. She released her first album One Special Girl when she was 13, which led to a spot on Dorian Baxter’s Gospelenium Tour as the opening act for Conway Twitty’s daughters Joni and Cathy.

Rose also had shows opening for The Wilkinsons, Emerson Drive and High Valley.

“She got married and had three little girls of her own, and now she’s just starting to get back into it a little bit – and it has skyrocketed right away,” said Christina Corbett, who play bass guitar in Rose’s band. “The world was just waiting for her to come back.”

Rose began working with Marty Beecroft and Glen Coulson of After Tuesday Productions in 2010. The two singles were recorded at Sony Tree Studios in Nashville, then mixed and mastered in Toronto.

Corbett, a former Elmira resident who continues to bring bands to town as a promoter with Promoagogo, joined Rose’s band after responding to an online ad.

“I just answered a Kijiji ad and it was somebody looking for a bass player for a video,” said Corbett. “I basically just had to act in it because the tracks were already down. It was like a 12-hour Hollywood-shoot type of thing, with the director, big boom cameras, the lighting and all that stuff. It was pretty cool to do.”

It also turned out was in the right place at the right time.

“We just finished the video and Amy and I really hit it off, and she was like, ‘do you wanna be our regular bass player’?” said Corbett.

On her website bio, Rose is described as having a “soaring vocal range and pop country sensibilities.” Her influences include many older country and western artists.

“Conway Twitty would be one of her big idols, Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette…those types of people,” said Corbett.

Her single Party Like a Redneck has more of a new-country sound, which has earned comparisons to Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson.

“And she’s so unique too,” said Corbett. “She can yodel. I’d never thought I’d be in a band where somebody yodels. She does a song Cowboy Sweetheart and there’s a yodel part in it — and she just nails it. She kind of puts her own twist on it and it’s a lot of fun for the audience.”

To promote her most recent single, Rose will be performing two shows in Nashville before coming to Elmira. An international tour is also in the works.

“She’s huge in Japan right now, and Europe, so her manager is working on a tour for that,” said Corbett. “It looks like we’ll be hitting the road soon.”

Momentum continues to build for the new single I Just Want to Know You, which was originally recorded by the Backstreet Boys. The song features the talents of some heaving-hitting musicians on the Nashville scene: Mark Prentice, bass (Vince Gill, Keith Urban), Glen Duncan, fiddle (Reba McIntyre, Shania Twain), and Mike Rojas, keys (Lady Antebellum, Luke Bryan).

According to the MTS Management Group, the single has been among the most-added songs to US country radio stations since it’s Oct. 21st release.

“She’s a person that deserves it,” said Corbett. “She works really hard at her craft. She’s going to go far for sure.”

Local musician Larry Lesperance will open Rose’s Elmira show, which begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $15.

For tickets call the Central Tavern at 519-669-9028, email promoagogo1@gmail.com or visitwww.ticketwindow.ca.

11/12/12  URBAN COUNTRY NEWS GIVES "THUMBS UP" TO "I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW"

Top country music website, Urban Country News posted a new review of Amy Rose's latest single, "I Just Want You To Know:" Canadian country artist Amy Rose, returns to radio with, ‘I Just Want You to Know,’ the first single off her upcoming album. Reading the accompanying one-sheet, I found out that this song is a cover of a Backstreet Boys song released on their 2005 album Never Gone that was written by über-producers Max Martin and Dr.Luke. Already, my interest was piqued, because I like it when artists cover songs from other genres and make them their own.

The track starts with rhythmic acoustic guitars that are meant to mimic the tremolo-ed electric guitars of the original, which is a really cool touch. In fact, the arrangement, instrumental and vocal, is one of the highlights here. The guitar and keyboard work on here is top notch with little lines crossing each other creating mini-hooks themselves. I really liked the electric guitar work in the original and after hearing it, I wished they’d kept some more of the textural parts as they really catch the ear. But what’s here’s powerful and dense, yet you don’t have to strain to hear any of the individual parts.

To read the entire review, which resulted in a thumbs up from the reviewer, please visitwww.urbancountrynews.com.
